Hearing Test

We offer free consultation hearing tests at our Dove Hearing Centres in Burton, Lichfield & Hanley

At all of our Dove Hearing Centres your free hearing test will be conducted by one of our qualified specialists. These tests are not invasive and are designed to understand if you have hearing loss and to what level. Rest assured, that throughout the process your hearing specialist will ensure you are comfortable and make you aware of what is happening at each stage of the test.

What Will Happen During My Hearing Test?

To begin, your hearing specialist will ask questions about your hearing and discussing with you the kinds of problems you encounter on a day-to-day basis. They will then conduct a thorough examination of each ear.

Following this, an audiometric test of your hearing will be carried out. This will allow us to assess whether or not you are experiencing hearing loss and to what extent. During the audiometric test you will be required to wear a pair of headphones through which you will hear a series of different sounds played at varying volumes. Your hearing specialist will instruct you to press a button every time you hear a sound. These button presses are then recorded on a chart.

Once the test is over, we will be able to advise you further on the appropriate course of action and care for your hearing. If you are suitable for hearing aids, we will advise you of the most suitable hearing system for your requirements, making you aware of all options open to you every step of the way.

What Happens Next?

When your hearing test is over, your hearing specialist will talk you through your results in depth. In some cases, we may simply advise that you return in 12 months for a check up, or recommend a treatment such as ear wax removal

In cases where we believe it would be helpful for you to have a hearing aid, we will take the time to explain all the options available for you. Should you wish to have a hearing aid fitted, we will arrange for you to return for a fitting around 7 to 14 days after your test.
